The scholarship was launched in 2012 in an attempt to introduce more women into careers in the gases and welding industry. The scholarship is a one-time award and will be offered to a female seeking higher education in a welding or engineering discipline. 


​The American Welding Society and Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. scholarship has the following requirements as specified on the AWS website. There is an online application on the scholarhip website linked on this page.

  1. Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age.
  2. Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma.
  3. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and plan to attend an academic institution located within a specific state.
  4. Eligible candidates will be female.
  5. Financial need is not required, however, priority will be given to those demonstrating a financial need.
  6. Applicant must be enrolled in a two-year or four-year welding-related educational program.
  7. Applicant must submit all required application information.
  8. Applicant must have a 2.5 overall grade point average.
  9. Student must be enrolled full time.
  10. Award is only made one time to a student. Applicants may not reapply.
